It's set in the World War II and the game includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, and the Soviet Union, carefully detailed with historical accuracy. The game offers fast random battles featuring various modes, historic mini-campaigns, tourneys and epic Clan Wars on a global map, where mighty clans fight for hundreds of provinces employing grand strategy, diplomacy and economic power. Intense battles with up to 60 combat vehicles unfold on enormous and detailed battlefields featuring a variety of terrain from open fields with hills and forests to deserts and industrial zones. The terrain offers a wide scope for tactical decisions from aggressive fast-paced thrusts to elaborate flanking operations and diversionary attacks.

It offers a flexible system of authentic vehicle upgrade and development which allows players to try any of the vehicles and weapons in the game. All machines can be upgraded in dozens of ways: better turrets, chassis, guns, engines, radios, various ammunition types, plus tank crew members can be leveled up as well. There are different units, each one depending on the playstayle. Light tanks to exhaust your foes with fast and maneuverable, medium tanks to make deep breaches in enemy lines, giant tanks to eliminate opposing armored forces, or long-range howitzers. Each unit type has its own advantages and can be extremely effective when operated by a true tank ace.

In World of Tanks, it’s all about teamwork. Victory is achieved by combining your combat skills with those of the other members of your team, each playing their own role on the battlefield. Players can take part in joint operations to spot, track, and destroy enemy units and engage in head-to-head duels where the speed and reaction time is as important as in any co-op shooter.

If an ultimate mode player is killed and not resurrected within 3 minutes, that character is permanently deleted.

It features two factions: alliance of Light or Union of Fury. Since these factions are at war, an Alliance player cannot use the game’s chat features with a Union player and vice-versa. The different classes are: Defender, Guardian, figther, warrior, priest, oragle, ranger, assassin, archer, hunter, mage and pagan. Each faction wins blessing points during PvP combat, by killing enemies or by destroying opposing relics in PvP zones. These points are accumulated on the faction level, not for each character, thus giving a global blessing to the entire side.

Choose your race between Deva (light-element race catered more on support and tanking; generally have low offense), Gaia (neutral human race with a balance of offense and defense) and Asura (dark-element race focusing more on offense; low on defense, high on evasion). Use the lak, magical energy from monsters that can be obtained by defeating monsters while wearing the appropriate necklace. This necklace will be available fairly early in the game. Gathered Lak can be consumed if the player dies, preventing him to lose experience points, or can be traded at any Lak Trader for either chips or in-game currency, rupees. Lak Traders also provide the option to buy chips with rupees. However, it is more cost-efficient to obtain chips via Lak.
The oldest race is the Gaia, and to assist them, the gods of Creation and Extinction brought two more races into the world. They were the Deva who represented the Light and the Asura who represented the Darkness. With this, there was a period of peace and stability in the world. As the ages passed by, there was one among the Gaia who called herself “The Witch”. Over time, she grew in tremendous power and with a ruthless ambition, rallied the people of Gaia to rebel against the world. Not all the people of Gaia heeded this call, however, and the world was thrown into chaos. It was only through the combined efforts of the three races of Deva, Asura, and Gaia that “The Witch” was finally captured and burnt alive. It was a victorious outcome of a unity between the three races. Now at the present time, the three races continue to co-exist with each other in the world of Rappelz but dark rumors have surfaced about the second coming of “The Witch” and the return of her terrible forces. The backstory plays a substantial role in the game itself.
